Jana Bennett is a vibrant redhead and a prominent Chicagoland professional dancer, teacher and choreographer! Most recently, some may recognize her from the popular Youtube video, Bachelorette Dance Music Video || Jana B. & The Squad, that she choreographed, produced and was featured in. Jana is currently freelancing commercial work both as a dancer and choreographer.

On the concert dance side, Jana is a founding professional artist with Cocodaco Dance Project, where she has performed works by many leading dance artists including Francisco Avina, David Maurice, Sam Watson and Ronn Stewart. She has lit up the stage throughout the Chicago area. Her favorite venues to perform at include the Auditorium Theater, Stage 773, iO Theater, and the Josephine Lewis Theater at Northwestern University. During the summer of 2017, Jana was one of six dancers chosen to tour with Cocodaco performing and teaching master classes around the state of New Mexico.

In the spring of 2017, Jana premiered a new piece for Cocodaco’s evening length work “TREAD." She has also created dance for the popular iO Theater improvisation show "Recital" where her work served as the inspiration for John Sabine and Claudia Wallace of The Second City's performance and improvisation. Other unique creations include two dance film collaborations with Wild Goose Chase and choreographing a work for Starkid's "A Night of Dance."

Aside from her performance and choreographic career, Jana finds love in teaching dance and individual instruction. With Jana’s background in professional dance, anatomy, theater dance and figure skating, Jana is one of the most versatile dance teachers in the Chicago area. Her clients include true beginners to advanced and kids as young as five all the way through adult. Schools and programs her students have attending include The Julliard School, Boston Conservatory, San Francisco Conservatory, NYU and Texas Christian University for dance and Boston Convervatory, Northwestern University, Interlochen, Syracuse University and Notre Dame for musical theater. 

 

In the fall of 2017, Jana was named Artistic Director of Foster Dance Studios in Evanston, IL where she served as a lead faculty member for four years prior. At the end of this summer, she chose to step down from her position to pursue her own dreams. In August of this year, Jana was thrilled to announce her new studio Jana Bennett Dance (Hilja, LLC) where she serves as Founder and Artistic Director!
